Douglas M. Long, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Long completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Nevada in Reno. He moved to Rhode Island for his residency and fellowship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He then supervised residents and fellows as Clinical Assistance Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Dr. Long has worked in a variety of settings including a college counseling center, VA medical center, psychosocial recovery program, and partial hospital program.
He has published articles about mindfulness, philosophy, therapist training, and treatment development. He specializes in the use of evidence-based therapies that blend mindfulness and existentialist approaches with behavioral science, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Dr. Long is seeing patients at South County Psychiatry through the Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and is not taking new outpatients at this time.
In his free time, Dr. Long enjoys film, chess, running, and being in nature with his family.
