Shiwen Yuan, MD

Shiwen Yuan, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist, and clinical assistant professor in psychiatry at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology. Dr. Yuan earned his medical degree from Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University in China. He then moved to the US and completed psychiatry residency training at Brown.

He has pursued research on novel treatments for depression, and published in peer-reviewed journals. After residency, Dr. Yuan worked as a staff psychiatrist providing combined medication management and talk therapy for patients at Rhode Island Hospital, where he also treated major depressive disorder with transcranial magnetic stimulation. In the context of his clinical practice, Dr. Yuan supervised medical students and psychiatry residents in their psychopharmacology and psychotherapy training.
